Rose Bowl Victory for 'Horns, 38-37 over Michigan

What an exciting Rose Bowl game tonight! The Michigan team was excellent, and the Texas team did some really stupid things (a fumble at exactly the wrong time, and too many penalties), but I think both teams can be really proud of the way they played. Of course, being a Texan, I was pleased (a massive understatement) when U.T., with 2 seconds left in the game, kicked a field goal to win 38 to 37.

Without talented, versatile QB Vince Young, who was undoubtedly the star of the evening, I think the Longhorns would have lost. On the other hand, without the stupid penalties (why get two face-mask penalties-- so avoidable) U.T. probably would have won more decisively. I'm definitely not a football expert, and, ordinarily, I wouldn't care about this Rose Bowl game. But this year, when Senator Barbara Boxer made such a big deal about Texas being chosen (rather than Cal), I suddenly developed more interest than usual.
